Acoustic mitigation for compressor station.
SCOPE OF WORK
INNOVA was to upgrade a compressor station by designing, supplying and installing noise control measures. These measures were found to be necessary based upon a noise impact assessment performed by INNOVA that identified components of the compressor that were noncompliant with Alberta regulations. INNOVA utilized a balanced design approach to recognize that while the inlets and outlets were of concern it would be necessary to insure that the enclosure’s doors were not left open, so a ventilation system would be needed as well.
Mitigating measures included:
- Cooler inlet and outlet silencers,
- Acoustical panels for the enclosure,
- An acoustic powered ventilation system
- Replacement engine exhaust silencer for the Waukesha model F817GU compressor unit.
A noise mitigation compliance survey was performed after the mitigation measures were installed. It found that all of the installed systems achieved the required performance, reducing noise levels from 43 dBA to 35 dBA at 330 meters, allowing the compressor to be in compliance with Alberta regulations.Oil & G
