CLIENT

Dominion Transmission Inc.

SCOPE OF WORK

INNOVA designed, supplied and erected a 50 ft x 56 ft x 40 ft addition to the company’s existing compressor station. Additions included:

  • 13ft x 14 ft equipment door
  • 2 man doors
  • 7 door canopies
  • 4 large roof exhaust silencers
  • 4 large wall silencers
  • Fans and heater

Interior steel required painting to complement the look of the existing structure.

ACOUSTICAL REQUIREMENTS

Walls and roof were constructed to achieve a sound transmission class (STC) of 54 and a sound absorptive noise reduction coefficient (NRC) of 0.90. Ventilation equipment was designed to specified dynamic insertion losses. The building passed the client’s final acoustical test.

UNIQUE PROJECT HURDLES

Matching the components and appearance of the existing compressor station was of paramount importance, but particularly challenging, because the building—for which no drawings existed—was a “hybrid” structure constructed by another supplier. INNOVA compensated for the lack of drawing for the existing building by measuring and analyzing the existing structure.
