SCOPE OF WORK

Design, engineer, manufacture, and supply of four complete system packages; intake system and ducting, intake plenum, exhaust silencing system with support steel, off-skid heavy-duty enclosure with fire and back draft dampers, enclosure ventilation intake and exhaust systems.

UNIQUE PROJECT HURDLES

Space is at a premium on off-shore oil rigs. Installation is made difficult by the minimal maneuvering space available. System pieces must be sized to meet critical site limitations while still allowing for ease of installation and optimum performance. Higgott-Kane accurately measured and assessed available spacing, and assumed full responsibility for individual pieces fitting within the confines of the rig.

Further challenges are provided by the movement of the water on the oil rig. Support steel has to be designed with precision to tolerate the unique stresses experienced. The steel must also withstand the harsh salt-water environment to which it is consistently exposed.

RESULTS

CFD and FEA analysis ensure the acoustic system design will successfully tolerate all environmental and operational stresses and still meet noise level requirements.
