PROJECT DESCRIPTION

INNOVA was selected by Ellis Don Construction Services Inc. to design, fabricate, supply and install a pedestrian corridor with blast resistant panels for the International Facilities Project – East Concourse at the Calgary International Airport. This project will provide The Calgary Airport Authority increased capacity to meet projected international and trans-border demand through to 2025. The International Facilities Project is among the largest projects in the history of Alberta.

SCOPE OF WORK

Design, fabrication, supply and installation of the following components for the pedestrian walkway enclosures for gates A1-A10:

  • Helical piles foundations
  • Steel framed structures
  • INNOVA proprietary prefabricated wall and roof panels
  • Personnel doors and windows
  • Corridor HVAC

SILENCING SOLUTIONS

INNOVA installed its CAP enclosure system that uses INNOVA’s proprietary panelized and Omega clamp fastener system. The design included steel frames designed for local conditions and codes as well as for support of the weight of the wall and roof panels and mechanical wall-mounted components.

UNIQUE PROJECT HURDLES

Other areas of the terminal and airfield were in use during construction so that just-in-time co-ordination of material delivery and erection by INNOVA was paramount. The corridor had to be built in two (2) sections with the second half installed during the winter. INNOVA planned for a weather proof solution to seal the completed first portion until the remainder was ready to erect. The non-combustible tongue and groove proprietary panels used by INNOVA were light and easy to install, speeding up the project timeline.
