SCOPE OF WORK

INNOVA was contracted to design and supply new noise baffles for a client supplied turbine exhaust stack that replaced an existing burnt-out regenerator stack for a GE Frame 3 turbine.

ACOUSTICAL REQUIREMENTS

35 dBA at 550 feet from the unit.

NOISE SOURCES

GE Frame 3 turbine/compressor unit.

SILENCING SOLUTIONS

Five circular shaped baffles were constructed to slide into a client supplied turbine exhaust stack. The baffles were supported at the outlet of the stack allowing for expansion and contraction of the stack and baffle cluster.

UNIQUE PROJECT HURDLES

An extension to the exhaust stack was necessary to accommodate the length of baffles that were required to fit into the stack because of the needed attenuation. The client supplied stack was not round but oval in shape and required adjustment prior to the installation of the baffle cluster because of the tight clearances between the baffles and the stack.
